Great Lakes Piping plovers are such a crucial species!! They are highly endangered and their conservation is necessary to prevent their extinction. When acting to conserve piping plover habitat, it creates a ripple effect among other species. When you put effort forth for the plovers, many shorebirds benefit. Having a strong shorebird presence can boost bird based tourism which is growing in popularity. Many people travel specifically to visit the Great Lakes Piping Plovers!! Protecting the plovers is a definite win!!!
