Re: Transferable Water Taking Permits, Regulatory Amendments
Water is a sacred resource that belongs to the people of Ontario and needs to be protected by our elected officials. Water rights should never be transferable assets as this bill would have it. Water-taking permits should not be sold off to global corporations for profit, who have no investment in our future. The removal of millions of gallons of water per day is not something that should be flexible or undertaken without oversight or any reflection on the potential impact on the environment and the people who live here. The Transferable Water Taking Permits regulatory amendments should be stopped and reconsidered, as they reflect short term thinking for profit which will compromise our province's sustainability, for citizens now and in the future.
Premier Ford and the provincial government must do a better job at protecting Ontario, our environment, and our water systems for the sake of present and future generations!
