This proposal is an egregious act of negligence to both the environment and the surrounding lands. The idea of filling in a lake that is home to many species including trumpeter swans, and which was originally an aggregate facility which has been rehabilitated is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE!!
This proposal MUST be stopped! The impact on surrounding wells from filling in a clean lake with dirty construction fill is very serious! The idea of more trucks on our roads, particularly Charleston Sideroad when we are already overrun with gravel and other transport vehicles makes me feel sick.
Please find a different place to dump this dirty soil, not in an area of complete and final rehabilitation! Send it to the Pinchin Pit which is close by and can use the fill.
There are rules in place for backfilling and they need to be respected, not slid under a blanket without public consultation!
We are seriously opposed to this proposal.
