We live in a very special area, the southern part of Georgian Bay, and over the years have watched as we have become a recreational area, the development of Blue Mountains, Collingwood and the shoreline through Thornbury and Meaford. I have been a resident in the area all my life and four generations before me, began my working career in Wasaga Beach and believe me I don't mind sharing but I don't believe the present provincial government and municipal government have the best interests of the area in mind. Once the shoreline is gone you don't get back and in a time of climate change and deteriorating wet lands and forests please stop and think. I walked the are of Beach 1 and New Wasaga this past weekend and we are in a crisis environmentally. I understand our municipal government looking at making Wasaga Tourist destination but people come for the natural areas and I understand the need for tax dollars but lines of Condo's on the beach front takes it out of the hands of people who want to preserve nature. We have a lot of history in the area and making it a Toronto playground is giving up all that we should hold dear for the next generations. To the provincial government and municipal government, it's your children that will lose, you cannot build and pave our way out of this, please plan wisely and not just with the swipe of a pen. Be wise for the generations to come.
