I’m writing to stress the critical importance of protecting undeveloped land that serves as vital habitat for endangered species like the piping plover. These birds are already at risk, and continued habitat loss could push them even closer to extinction.
Selling or developing this land threatens not only their habitat but also the broader ecosystem, which provides natural flood protection, water filtration, and biodiversity. By protecting these spaces, we uphold environmental responsibility and contribute to long-term conservation efforts. These areas are not just bird habitats; they are essential for maintaining biodiversity, preventing coastal erosion, and buffering communities from the impacts of climate change.
Preserving this land is not just an environmental obligation — it’s a moral one. We have a responsibility to protect what remains, not only for wildlife but for future generations.
Thank you for recognizing the urgency of this issue.
