I strongly oppose the proposed development plans in Wasaga Beach that would result in the destruction of sensitive environmental areas. Wasaga Beach is not only a cherished community and tourist destination but also home to unique ecosystems, including one of the longest freshwater beaches in the world, vital wetlands, and critical habitat for wildlife—including endangered species like the piping plover.
This development threatens the natural character and ecological integrity of the area. Once these natural spaces are destroyed, they cannot be replaced. The proposed expansion prioritizes short-term economic gain over long-term environmental sustainability and community wellbeing.
Preserving green spaces and protecting biodiversity is more important than ever in the face of climate change. I urge you to reconsider and reject any development that puts the health of Wasaga Beach’s natural environment at risk.
Let’s invest in smart, sustainable growth that respects the unique character and ecological value of our community—not destroy it
