This proposal poses serious threats to the long-term protection of Wasaga Beach’s natural environment. Removing Nancy Island and large portions of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park from the PPCRA would strip these areas of the strongest legal safeguards currently in place for their ecological integrity. The loss of protected status opens the door to development pressures that could damage sensitive shoreline ecosystems, disrupt wildlife habitat, and increase erosion and pollution in a highly dynamic coastal environment. Once these protections are gone, they will be extremely difficult—if not impossible—to reinstate. For the sake of preserving the area’s biodiversity, water quality, and natural heritage for future generations, this proposal should be stopped in its entirety.
