We do not want to see the Park divided in such a way that it destroys the environment and natural beauty of the area. Wasaga development has already been pushed forward without thinking of how to sustain what is already here and save old growth forests and animal habitats.
It is important to think of the future, climate change, and how we can sustain what is already here.
You can’t plan for year round tourism if there is nothing to attract families during all 4 seasons. There has to be more permanent attractions that are not strictly weather dependent and are financially affordable.
A hotel with an indoor pool and outdoor facilities that are inclusive to tourists and permanent residents should be considered.
Many of us who are full time residents see some summer residents who are not here all year, reclaiming beach areas that they don’t own. Between Beach 5 and 6 the owners along Shore lane are expanding onto the beach front and prohibiting other local residents and guests, or visiting tourists, to be in front of their properties.
We thought the shore areas and the beach front was not privately owned but was Provincial parkland.
Everyone should have access rites to the beach especially full time residents who pay taxes and support this community year round.
Our fear is that the tourism push will erode the beauty of the area and has not considered the effects on permanent residents, especially seniors and children, water quality and infrastructure.
