I am concerned about the land transfer of Ontario Parks Property to the Town of Wasaga Beach.
This is the primary area for Piping Plovers in Ontario. By removing the property from the supervision of Ontario Parks, we take the risk of once again extirpating this species from Ontario. Piping Plovers began nesting at Wasaga Beach again in 2007, after a 30-year absence. The staff at Ontario Parks have been
instrumental in the monitoring and protection of the plovers in the area. By removing the lands from the park oversight, we may lose the protection that these birds need. I urge you to reconsider your decision.
