I do not agree with the proposal to sell or give provincially-owned land, which belongs to all Ontarians, not this government, to the town of Wasaga Beach.
The proposal makes no mention of the endangered Piping Plovers which use this beach to raise their young and how they and their habitat will be protected from encroachment and beach maintenance activities undertaken by the town.
The proposal is extremely sparse on details and should not even have been posted to the Environmental Registry without a more fulsome description of what is actually being proposed.
It also sets a precedent for future provincially-owned park and other land sales/giveaways at other locations with minimal oversight. This proposal must be rejected!
