The proposed legislative amendments to the PPCRA are a threat both to the integrity of Wasaga Beach Park itself and to the Ontario Parks system in general. The sale of 645 acres of this Park to the town of Wasaga Beach will result in its removal from public access and destruction of its natural ecology. Furthermore, it sets a dangerous precedent for the privatization of the province's public parks in general. The purpose of the park system is to secure long-term public enjoyment of parklands and their ecological protection, not to destroy them for short-term profit.
