I love Wasaga Beach. I have been visiting the beach for over 30 years. I even lived in Wasaga for a stretch of 4 months a few years ago.
My family travels to Wasaga Beach at least 4 times per summer, and we stay overnight for at least two nights, sometimes for a week. We paddle in the river, we swim at the beach, and we ride our bikes along Wasaga’s roads and trails.
We don’t know Wasaga as well those who live there year-round, but we also know it more than those who visit for a day. We know what the beach is like when the parking lots are empty. We know what Mosley Street feels like on a Wednesday morning in May.
We were pleased and excited to see that Beach 1 was getting the upgrade it deserves. It is hard to describe Beach 1 to people who don’t know what it was like before the fire.
Bringing Beach 1 to its potential is important.
What we never expected was the idea that a development could expand into the beach / parkland itself. The beach is the whole point. The Town already strikes such a good balance between being in touch with nature and being able to quickly reach modern amenities. I’ve never felt that this area of town needed less beach and more development. I have long felt that the developed area could use an upgrade, but not beyond its existing footprint.
