I do not support the proposed transfer of land from the province to the town of Wasaga Beach. Wasaga Beach is known for the beautiful beach and the parks that are available for everyone to access. With greenspace becoming increasingly scarce throughout Ontario, it's of vital importance to protect the spaces we do have. In recent town hall meetings the municipal government has already spoken of turning some of the potential land transferred into parking lots. It is evident that they do not have any regard for the ecological importance of this land and cannot be trusted to act with the environment in mind. There is also no clear plan for how they would use these lands to effectively increase tourism. The greenspace and the public beach is the draw for tourism - the town does not see it that way.
