Provincial parks belong to the people of Ontario and are meant to be protected, not sold! While I am concerned about the potential loss of ecologically significant land, I am also concerned about the unspecified amendments that are to be made. The PPCRA currently requires that elected MPPs approve any significant removal of provincial park land, however this process isn't being followed for Wasaga Beach Provincial Park.
Downloading the expense and responsibility for conservation and protection, on the surface seems acceptable, however it puts the land at higher risk of being sold for private development due to the restricted budgets and underfunding of municipalities across Ontario.
