KEEP WASAGA BEACH PUBLIC!!
Not only is this critical for tourism purposes where the provincial park boosts the local economy, but privatizing the land also poses threats to the environment and biodiversity of the ecosystem that people depend on. Less public land means less trees, less soil stability, greater risk for endangered species such as piping plovers, higher temperatures due to lack of shade and more heat absorbing concrete. Taking away a public space that local, tourists, plants and animals depend on/enjoy doesn’t benefit anyone except developers. Keeping Wasaga Beach public is how we continue to support local businesses, communities and families that would otherwise suffer the burden of losing income if tourism in the area decreases should this project go through.
