As a long time (read, elderly) citizen of Ontario, I want you to know that I agree with Earthroots that the Ontario government should:

Withdraw the Species Conservation Act and restore the Endangered Species Act.

Reassign all “Special Concern” species to the protected list and maintain provincial oversight for aquatic and migratory bird species.

Keep full public transparency and review under the Environmental Bill of Rights.

Mandate strong, enforceable standards for habitat protection and recovery planning.

Fund real enforcement so that promises on paper translate into protection on the ground.

We must understand that humans are part of the natural world, as dependent on the complicated web that we do not fully understand as other creatures are. We must preserve that web, that diversity, for the survival of our species.

Yes, we need more human shelter, but we are well able to add density where humans have already destroyed habitat rather than destroying more of it.

Even the descendants of people who gain from development will need a thriving natural world more than they need inherited wealth.
