I seriously implore any relevant governmental members to seek out the research and findings that have come from road diets (the reorganization of a road to better fit it's needs). Most of them result in reduced travel times (when there is a slight increase in times it's due to a significant reduce in crashes), reduced crashes, and safer streets for all users, even with the removal of a vehicle lane. To assume that vehicles (cars) are the most efficient form of transit is a serious mistake and if Ontario truly wants to meet the demand we have for growth within our province, we have to consider mass public transportation and active transportation. Even though it may seem like it slightly inconveniences the government members who drive around their cities, bike lanes and bus lanes almost always benefit the broader population that exists their cities, which the government should be focusing upon.
Please take a wide look at all of the research done in this field to see the overwhelming evidence in objection of this bill.
