I fully support a move towards improved cycling infrastructure. My local municipality has recently made strides to improve lane width and clarifying bike lanes through the use of painted lines. These lanes cut straight through the downtown core, which is a thoroughfare for both cars and bikes.
I question where the funding will come from for some of this infrastructure work. Many car drivers call for bike licensing, which I would willingly adhere to. However, many people that use bikes don't have the financial means to purchase a bike licence, and we need to consider these people when thinking about how to fund these programs.
