As a person who was run over by a city contracted garbage truck, while cycling in a bike lane, I have many thoughts and feelings about cycling infrastructure. There is no need for road violence. It can be stopped.

Regarding local infrastructure, I would stress that side streets in urban and suburban residential areas are critical pieces, often overlooked beyond simple signs marking them as bike routes.

The components proposed by the MTO for the #CycleOn strategy are all very urban focused. Please consider components that would benefit rural communities as well. Cycling infrastructure should benefit all Ontarians regardless of location.

1. Increasing the number of people choosing cycling as a transportation option demands SAFER cycling. The latter has been noted by potential cyclists as the key variable in their choice.

As an avid cyclist on two cycling committee's in Brampton. I would prefer to see on road bicycle lanes or protected on road bicycle lanes in the City of Brampton. The City seems to think that multi use paths and trails are the way to go.

I fully support a move towards improved cycling infrastructure. My local municipality has recently made strides to improve lane width and clarifying bike lanes through the use of painted lines. These lanes cut straight through the downtown core, which is a thoroughfare for both cars and bikes.
