This bill could not be a worse step in the wrong direction. This bill is a sledgehammer that takes any kind of control away from municipalities to determine how road space (that we all pay for) is used. It eliminates any kind of flexibility that should be taken at a hyper-local level and not at the provincial. Everyone sees the future: bikes can help solve traffic congestion, the obesity crisis, the climate crisis, the affordability crisis, and encourages walkable cities. Cars kill and injure hundreds of Ontarians a day. Biking to work has left me happier, healthier, and wealthier. Doug Ford wants to take away these benefits from Ontarians for generations to come and this bill must not be allowed to pass on so many different grounds that its hard to pick one.
