This is a ridiculous overstep in power. Not only does this type of infrastructure planning fall within the jurisdiction of municipalities, but studies have shown that restricting bike lane by adding bike lanes doesn't decrease congestion. Common sense has it that incentivizing car sharing, adding HOV lanes, building better infrastructure for commuters, even tolling access to a metropolis like Toronto would decrease congestion. In fact, incentivizing bike riding would decrease traffic!
This vendetta Ford suddenly has against cyclists is so odd. If he needs a bike, I will personally buy him one, take him for a spin, and show him how much quicker you can get around on one, whether it's within a municipality or across them.
