Asking the Ford government to act according to evidence and common sense, rather than to score political points is becoming tiresome.
The evidence is clear:
- bike lanes do not cause traffic congestion Poor road design and a lack of robust transit does.
- prioritizing car traffic over bike lanes makes our roads less safe, and is unhealthy for individuals and the environment.
- bike lanes are good for business - we should be building more of them.
- municipal roads are the purview of elected officials, and the provincial government’s attempts to control them are a gross overreach.
Withdraw the bike lane and Highway Traffic amendments in Bill 60.
