I bike to work regularly, and safe, protected bike lanes make all the difference. They reduce stress, prevent crashes, and help me get around faster and more reliably. This bill strips cities of local authority to plan evidence-based transportation that residents actually support. It will worsen congestion, make roads more dangerous, and threaten transit lanes, school streets, and community spaces. The government’s own experts confirm that bike lanes are not the cause of gridlock. This isn’t about being “pro-bike” or “anti-car”; it’s about local democracy, safety, and climate-smart street design that benefits everyone.
