I am opposed to the consolidation of Ontario's conservation authorities. I strongly believe that this will result in reduced protections for our watersheds and increased risk of flooding, infrastructure damage, habitat loss, and impact on human communities. Aligning conservation authorities' work with our economic and housing needs should mean leaving them all their current personnel and local decision-making power to safeguard our future by supporting biodiversity, managing waterway health, reducing flood risk, and responding nimbly to environmental changes. If the government truly wishes to safeguard our future, they should allocate more resources to these bodies, not remove their power.
