I am against these proposed changes to the legislation regarding the amalgamation of conservation authorities in Ontario.
Retrospective conservation authority is vital. Each authority is in charge of a very unique section of the province with its own challenges and specific considerations. They require the autonomy to perform their work as the experts in their field in their specific Eco region of the province.
Centralization will do harm to conservation efforts across the province. It’s the provincial government really wants to help improve operations and conservation efforts. They should provide adequate funding to all 36 conservation authorities in Ontario.
