I am 100% against the proposed boundary changes of Ontario's conservation authorities. I worked for the smallest, and second smallest, Conservation Areas in Ontario. I understand that the proposed changes to the boundaries would result in various issues. You can't manage all of the watersheds along Lake Erie as one large Area. There is a reason they are all separate. To ensure the healthy and safety of people, AND the environment. Water systems are special ecosystems, that require specific care that those working in conservation areas have well knowledge in. It is foolish to assume that any two conservation areas could simple "merge" for betterment of development approval. CA's work hard with the limited funding they are given to protect communities. If you want Conservation Area's to have "predictable and consistent" turnaround times for approvals, consider giving them the funding they need for staff and equipment.
The issue isn't the area, it's the government not giving them the resources they need. These boundary changes will only make the issue worse.
