I am writing in strong opposition of any changes that will negatively impact Ontario's internally recognized approach to water management by limiting the effectiveness of our conservation authorities (CA). Our CA system is unique precisely because it does not operate along artificial political borders but follows the watersheds themselves. Consolidating conservation authorities will negatively impact our ability to manage water in Ontario meaning we will be unprepared to prevent impacts from flooding and unable to protect lakes, rivers, and wetlands of all sizes. Small watersheds are just as important as large watersheds, and smaller communities or areas deserve to have conservation authorities protecting them.
