This is such a unbelievable justification for the use of an MZO. For a government which claims it is helping Ontarians find housing, this feels like a major step backwards.
Why would anyone moving into a rental building want to spy on the operations of a research development facility? The common sense is not there. The developer's hired risk assessment liaison also stated that a sweet spot to look into the building would likely be within the permitted heights that the MZO is proposing. So what is the point?
This feels like another example of the government prioritizing private business and its "needs" over actually doing something to help the citizens of Ontario deal with the ongoing housing crisis. The citizens of this province just elected a government which promised to "Protect Ontario" - please protect your citizens right to having shelter.
