This proposal is concerning in that It seems all lands currently owned by individual Conservation Authorities (CAs) will be transferred to the Province. Much of the land owned by CAs has been donated by individuals who may not be happy to learn that the Province is appropriating the land. I fear the Province may not keep all the land as Conservation lands.
My chief concern is that the CA in Thunder Bay (Lakehead Region Conservation Authority) will be lumped in with many larger CAs in Southern Ontario. It feels as though our small townships and municipalities will have no voice about the way things are handled.
At the very least Thunder Bay should be grouped with the other Northern and Lake Superior CAs such as Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie.
