This is clearly a Doug Ford/Conservative legislative intervention that jeopardises the "common good" and facilitates the development industry. As a former member of the Ontario Municipal Board, I witnessed over and over the need for the depth of knowledge of the current watershed Conservation Authority system. They have the expertise needed to make decisions on development applications that in the long term, would ensure lives and structures were not in jeopardy from flooding and flood plains could provide fast, natural remediation. As we move into a future of climate change and extreme weather events, which Ontario is already experiencing, this depth of knowledge and detailed watershed experience is more critical than ever. Leave a long-term functioning system that is proven to work well ALONE!
