I believe amalgamating ERCA will save money. It is my hope that the current ERCA support staff will not lose their positions when/if amalgamation takes place and accommodation can be made to ensure continued employment. These persons have valuable experience in their areas and this can be utilized to enhance the broader ERCA area should amalgamation take place. Currently, I see ERCA as roadblocks in some cases for home owners who want to enhance their properties and they have to jump through hoops with added paperwork and expenses to get things done. Our local ERCA representative on Council seems to work in their own self-interest and appears interested in self-promotion, and does not appear to be a person to work for the "whole" of the community. Amalgamation should ensure representation from local areas and consider broader initiatives meet local and provincial requirements.
