As a senior citizen, former primary school teacher and Girl guide leader, I am seriously concerned about the plan for reducing the number of Conservation Authorities.
Our local Conservation authority needs to protect and reflect our unique environment and local needs. This is not possible if we share our limited personnel and financial resources over a huge geographic area spanning from the tip of Point Pelee to Kitchener!
Over these past 70 years I’ve enjoyed Park Homestead, Holiday Beach, various protected ERCA local woods and beaches , the amazing Hillman Marsh and the wonderful ERCA Greenway trails; these experiences were formative and informative to me a child, a parent, a grandparent. We need these treasured natural areas to be nurtured and preserved for following generations.
Please keep local staff, local voices and local needs in a smaller and very effective local Conservation Authority!
