If regional specific diversity needs and protection needs can still be met under a broader area conservation authority, I understand the need to consolidate for lack of front line employees in some smaller current conservation authorities. I have dealt with several conservation authorities in Ontario over the years and it is concerning that there are not enough people available to investigate issues within some areas, especially when local residents are causing damage to a conservation authority protected land. I am concerned that consolidating authorities to a larger region will not in fact ease the issue of having individuals available for investigating issues, unless the idea is to redisperse some of the office staff to field work once consolidated, although I do not assume the skillets and experience are the same.

From an administration perspective, consolidation may make sense to manage a larger area, however, from a field perspective I am not sure i have seen enough planning to agree this is the right decision.
