Since the Privatization of Hydro in Ontario, rates have increased faster than inflation. And the Ontario government is forced to subsidize those rising rates using tax dollars that could have beeb put towards healthcare, education, social services, and infrastructure. Privatizing a service that people rely on to survive will only increase the cost to the everyday Ontarian. Private companies have a for-profit business model that the current operators of peel water do not have. This is not helping the taxpayers and only stands to help the company receiving the power over our water.
