I fear this is not a good plan. It will only remove the capabilities of necessary local conservation authorities and their abilities to provide important and life saving information regarding water levels, overland flooding and potential dangers to Ontarian's homes, livelihoods, and stability.
Consolidating such large areas that already have well functioning authorities that are specific to regional differences can only lead to less oversight, more bureaucracy, and the reduction of voices of local leaders.
This plan coupled with the reduction of environmental protections across the province, it's evident the Ontario government is solely focused on ramming through development in environmentally sensitive areas that will only serve to benefit the pockets of developers with no eye for what smaller communities actually want and care about.
