I believe consolidation is essential. We see so much duplication of services and the cost of operating these small authorities keeps rising, largely due to astronomical administrative staff/CAO salaries. What we currently get from our CA is minimal in protecting our environment and watersheds. It’s become an organization that exists to exist. It was far more effective and efficient when it was grass-roots. CAs are governed by municipal politicians who don’t have the knowledge and skills to provide proper oversight. They’ve also become political in nature so that sound decisions are not being made. Regional supervision should address the lack of accountability, effectiveness and efficiency.
