I oppose transferring jurisdiction of water and wastewater to the lower tier municipalities in Peel. Peel does a good job on ensuring our water safety.
I feel that the current PC government is gutting Peel region’s services as an alternative to disbanding Peel Region and that is not acceptable.
I also remember what happened to Walkerton when the PC government under Harris downloaded water testing to municipalities - 7 died and 2300 were made ill due to e-coli in the water.
Peel has trained staff and the expertise on water and wastewater treatment so why try to divi it up when it is totally unnecessary.
