I am a resident of Toronto who drives, walks and bikes. I understand the challenges of all three modes of transportation in the city, and I can tell you that bike lines not only save lives, they reduce traffic and keep the city moving.
Without a partitioned bike lane, not only is it more dangerous for cyclists but for drivers as well; they are at a much higher risk of hitting a cyclist and causing irreparable harm to cyclists and themselves.
The city needs to keep building forward momentum towards sustainable solutions for the city's traffic problems, and not pretend we don't know the true cost of reliance on cars and gas.
Toronto, not the province, knows what's best for the city. I am outraged the provincial government is once again overstepping its boundaries.
We can do better and I urge you to listen to the city's residents and do so.
