As a resident of Peterborough, Ontario, I feel that this legislation makes it harder, if not impossible, for regions to make policy decisions. Blanket prohibitions on reductions in traffic lanes is an over-broad restriction for what should, at best, be targeted regulation for specific problem situations. There is no evidence that the problem purportedly being addressed, will in fact be helped by this legislation. If this is implemented, it will not improve traffic, and will remove the ability of municipalities to implement programs supported by their residents.
