We feel it is absolutely essential that Bill 66 be revised. The proposed amendment to the Planning Act takes away the democratic right of citizens to know what is happening in their own backyard, provide input and if needed oppose the development. Transparency is a key and fundamental issue that is missing from Bill 66. Profits for corporations should not come before the rights of the taxpayers, their health or their environment. The government has no right to put lives at risk and to take away more green space in order for a few to have more money in their pockets.
We need to be thinking about the well being of everyone in the province not just those who want to increase their wealth.
