I am strongly supportive of the proposed consolidation of Ontario’s conservation authorities. This plan represents a positive step toward improving consistency, streamlining permitting processes, and eliminating unnecessary administrative duplication. Moving to seven regional conservation authorities will make services more efficient and reliable while still protecting watershed boundaries and the important work conservation authorities do every day.
I appreciate that key programs such as flood protection, source water protection, and watershed management will continue without interruption. These changes will help strengthen community safety, enhance climate resilience, and free up more resources for frontline environmental work.
Overall, this proposal provides a constructive and forward-looking approach that will benefit municipalities, landowners, and the environment.
