There is overwhelming evidence that the construction of bikes lanes does not increase congestion. In actuality, the construction of safe bike lanes encourages people to bike rather than drive, decreasing congestion. If Ontario's government is genuinely interested in decreasing congestion, they will invest in the construction of bike lanes. In addition to decreasing congestion, bike lanes are much cheaper to maintain than roads are, and benefit public and environmental health by increasing physical activity and decreasing emissions. Bill 60 would be a horrendous step backwards for Ontario, and would be out of line with public opinion, which shows support for bike lanes, and concern for decreasing public health and accelerating environmental degradation. Thank you.
