I don't think the Bill 60 which prohibits lane reduction for private vehicles is a good idea. There are more and more cyclists on the road which results in less pollution and carbon emissions from vehicles. It's an efficient way to get around the city which I and many others use often. Besides discouraging bicycle use and making cycling less safe the government's own studies have shown that removing and/or prohibiting bicycle lanes does not relieve traffic congestion.
Public transportation would be affected by this bill as well. Buses move people much more efficiently than private vehicles and having them stuck in traffic does not alleviate congestion either.
I hope the government will reconsider this very flawed bill and withdraw it.
