Local conversation authorities are experts on the local community watersheds. Local knowledge of flood plains, how the ecosystem functions and how to protect essential native species is critical to minimise the effects of climate change and keep residents safe from floods. The province should be investing more money into habitat protection, not trying to cut corners to "speed up" the process with straight up neglect.
