The proposed boundaries are too board since conservation authorities manage different landscapes, flood risks and ecosystems. Conservation authorities have been doing this work for 80 years; building relationships with farmers, municipalities, indigenous community members, and more. The proposed boundaries could dramatically alter how things are done and decided on. Local watershed knowledge and development support will not be facilitated well by regional managers. We need strong local conservation authorities not meta-agencies.
Please keep 36 conservation authorities; duplicate administrative costs are well worth the services and expertise conservation authorities provide to the development in and around natural hazards.
