I believe the LRCA in Northwestern Ontario will be overshadowed by the conservation authorities in Southern Ontario with the proposed merging into the Huron-Superior RCA. NWO is often overshadowed by other regions of Ontario in many legislations and policies, and the proposed merging would further this idea. The LRCA watershed has many unique ecological and geographical factors to consider, and the qualities of the watershed would likely not be considered as deeply in the Huron-Superior RCA.
Therefore, I align with the LRCA’s proposal, which is linked, and proposes the creation of a NWO regional conservation authority and urges the Ministry to speak with residents in the municipalities that the LRCA serves, to get an understanding of the needs in this region. Please do not let NWO be overshadowed by the rest of Ontario, and reconsidering the merging boundaries is crucial to preserve the Lakehead watershed and serve the municipalities in this region.
