I'm opposed to the downsizing of the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA) into the Huron-Superior RCA.
As a whole, I understand the need to consolidate into less smaller RCAs and into less and larger RCAs, but this one makes absolutely no sense. The two ends do the new proposed boundary is 1,200 km and they're total opposite ends of the province. You're going to spend more on travel within the RCA then you would by just leaving it as is.
Also, the environment and watersheds are completely different and require different criteria, information and permits. You're going to spend more on the different needs within its RCA, then you would leaving them as is in those areas. The environment will suffer and the tax payer will also pay for this long term.
Go ahead and condense the others, but the LRCA needs to be standalone in Northwestern Ontario.
