I strongly believe that 36 conservation authorities should not be consolidated into 7 conservation authorities.
I work at Conservation Halton with 8 parks under our care. Each park is unique and has it's own needs, biodiversity and gifts to the public.
I believe that a forced merger will be terrible for the upkeep of all the parks involved when there are new huge boundaries and funding models.
More and more people, since covid, are using the parks and consolidation is not the way forward for the parks to remain protected and accessible.
Safeguarding our wetlands and waterways are of the utmost importance to deal with flash flooding and climate change events.
Local environmental expertise in each individual authority is essential.
