As a long time resident of the area I would like to object in the strongest terms the proposed consolidating of 36 conservation authorities into 7 larger regional authorities; specifically the Lake Erie Regional Conservation Authority. Consolidating 8 existing conservation authorities into a single authority would jeopardize the future of natural areas in all of these regions.
The local commitment to Conservation Areas is important to responding to natural emergencies and providing excellent user experiences. Combining these 8 CAs as part of 6 other Behemoth CAs, would create bureaucratic bottle necks and delays having to consult with 81 municipalities, all with their own, perhaps vastly differing priorities.
Having worked with and with for local Conservation Areas I can personally attest that having staff and administration with "skin in the game" as local residents is incredibly important to successfully maintaining these vital environmental areas. History will frown on allowing a proposal such as this one to go ahead.
Yours Sincerely
A Concerned Citizen
