I have concerns with the proposed amalgamation and consolidation of Conservation Authorities. We work closely with Maitland Valley Conservation as we steward our woodlot. The customer service and expertise has been second to none. They are actively engaged in helping us to meet our goals as landowners and we work in partnership to maintain and improve our natural resources. They are helpful, accommodating and timely in all services. They KNOW our region and have the best interests of our region in mind while they work. They have time to visit our woodlot and help with every step along the way. How can we be sure that an expanded and amalgamated conservation authority will be able to provide the same service? What business plan was done to show the pros and cons of this proposal? Who wins with an amalgamation? Will local skilled jobs be lost? Will fewer eyes be on projects that matter in our rural setting?
I strongly oppose this proposal.
